Omaha Central Library is the new flagship home of the Omaha Public Library system and includes a first-of-its-kind Automated Storage and Retrieval System that is visible from multiple areas within the core of the building. Spanning 98,000 sqft, this facility serves as yet another community landmark in the area.
NCSS was contracted to design, detail, coordinate, and install multiple custom roller shade and drapery systems required to work in harmony with the building's curved facade. Key features include massive floor-to-ceiling curved motorized draperies throughout, and automated roller shades in key areas that move throughout the day, maintaining views when not needed. A bespoke curved felt system – designed in partnership with Veil | engineered shading – in the building's Children's Area completes one of NCSS’s largest drapery systems to date.
